What is OCPD?
When everything has to be perfect, under control, or done a certain way, life can start to feel rigid and overwhelming — for you and for the people around you. At Samarpan, we understand how heavy that pressure can be. And we're here to help you find more flexibility, balance, and ease.
OCPD doesn't always feel like a “problem.” In fact, many people see it as part of their personality. But over time, these patterns can start to feel exhausting or create friction in your life.
Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD) is a long-standing pattern of thinking and behaving that centres around control, order, and perfectionism.
These patterns often develop gradually over time and may be shaped by early experiences, expectations, or environments where being “perfect” or “in control” felt important.
Unlike some other conditions, these patterns may feel natural or justified — which is why OCPD can sometimes go unrecognised for years.
Symptoms of OCPD
People with OCPD are often seen as reliable, detail-oriented, and hardworking — but internally, there can be:
- Constant pressure to meet high standards
- Difficulty adapting to change
- A strong need to avoid mistakes
- Struggles with emotional expression or vulnerability
