What is ADHD?
This could be more than procrastination or inattention. At Samarpan, we help you understand your attention patterns, build structure, and develop practical strategies to feel more in control of your day.
ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how a person pays attention, manages impulses, and stays organised. In simple terms, it can feel like your mind is constantly switching channels, tasks are harder to start or finish, and staying organised or calm takes much more effort than it seems to for others. The good news is that with the right support and strategies at Samarpan, ADHD can be understood and managed effectively.
It's not just about “lack of focus”. ADHD can affect motivation, time management, and emotional regulation, making daily life feel draining and difficult to manage. Our trained therapists at Samarpan can help you better manage ADHD and your life.

A short, confidential self-assessment can help you decide whether it’s time to talk to someone.
Causes of ADHD
ADHD doesn't have one single cause. Here's a simple way to understand it:
- Brain differences: The brain areas responsible for attention, planning, and impulse control may work a bit differently in people with ADHD.
- Genetics: ADHD often runs in families, meaning if a parent, sibling or relative has it, there's a higher chance others might too.
- Early development factors: Things like premature birth, low birth weight, or exposure to stress, alcohol, or smoking during pregnancy can increase risk.
- Environment: High stress, lack of structure, or chaotic environments don't cause ADHD, but they can make symptoms more noticeable.
Why is treatment important?
If left untreated, ADHD can affect:
- Academics
- Work performance
- Relationships
- Self-esteem
- Stress, anxiety & burnout
