What is grief and bereavement?

Grief and Bereavement are part of the normal process of dealing with a loss. Bereavement is the period of grief and mourning after the death of a loved one. Most people will adjust to the loss over time. Others will have longer periods of bereavement and may benefit from treatment.

This summary explains how grief, mourning, and bereavement are different and describes the different types of grief, treatments for grief, and important issues for grieving children.
